To begin your maid of honor speech, giving the wedding guests a warm welcome and introduce yourself briefly to them. You may say something that goes like this: “A pleasant evening, ladies and gentlemen! For those of you who don’t know me, I am the bride’s best friend and maid of honor. I stand here today on behalf of the newly weds to formally welcome you all in this celebration, and to extend my deepest gratitude to you all simply for being here.”
Once the introduction and the brief welcome have been finished, you may congratulate the newly wed couple and express your joy and pride owing to your best friend’s wedding. Proceed with “Bear with me as I deliver this speech, ladies and gents, this will only take a while. Anyway, I wish to congratulate my bestest friend in the whole world and her charming husband on their wedding day. You can just imagine how envious I am right now seeing you in that elegant wedding gown and looking so beautiful on your wedding day. But more importantly, I am happy for you. I am immensely glad that you have finally found the man who will love you forever and the man with whom you will spend the rest of your life with.”
